11. uffice Attendants draw salaries which vary

considerably in different Departments and in their case

we do not feel disposed to lay down any base salary as

their duties and responsibilities must differ widely.

The range of salaries at present drawn by these

officers, which begins generally at a slightly higher

figure than the minimum laid down in General Ürder 30,

appears to us to be reasonable.

12. we have not considered in detail the salaries

of Survey Coolies, Bath-house Attendants and a number of

similar posts as the renumeration of these, subject to

the general application of General Order 30, should in our opinion depend upon the recommendations of their

Heads of Departments who are in a position to know the

nature of the duties performed.

13. It is possible that the terms of the last

paragraph may apply to some officers who appear in the

Estimates as "Coolies" and "Caretakers". Our recommendation

in paragraph 10 were intended to apply only to those

officers who perform the ordinary duties, common to all

Departments, indicated by their titles.

March 1927.
